July 8th: 'Brookland Arts Walk to Host First Annual Tirgan Market, a Persian Summer Festival'

“The Brookland Arts Walk will commemorate the ancient Zoroastrian summer festival, known as Tirgan, with its first annualon Saturday, July 8 from 3pm to 7pm. The community-wide event will celebrate the summer season with local artists and makers, delicious food, and live music.

Tirgan is the fourth ancient Persian festival of seasons – joining Norooz , Yalda and Mehregan – historically dedicated to ushering in a healthy harvest and warding off drought. It is traditionally celebrated by dancing, splashing water, reciting poetry, and consuming delicious foods, like spinach soup and saffron rice pudding called sholezard.Tirgan Market co-organizer and Kucheh Studio owner Mina M.
