THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) stated that one of the greatest concerns posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Synthetic Media is the possibility of displacing thousands of Filipino workers in the creative sectors due to the features provided by AI apps that can now produce photos, videos, and music.

Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by technology, particularly computer systems.'We need to have foresight and anticipate the problem of massive displacement of jobs due to the advancement in artificial intelligence,' MTRCB Vice Chairman Nathaniel 'Njel' De Mesa said in a statement on Monday.

'All of us are in agreement that this 'Oppenheimer' moment is inevitable and that the government should at least start the conversations on how we can help Filipino workers who might be affected, especially those in the creative industries,' he added. On July 6, several stakeholders from the creative industry met with the MTRCB to discuss their position, which was attended by artists, production specialists, producers, and government partners.
