—The Philippines and Malaysia committed to "closely coordinate" their efforts in building capacity in the Bangsamoro Autonomous region as President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. gained Malaysia's commitment to explore new pacts such as Halal industry and Islamic banking.

"Building on our bilateral relations, our governments commit to closely coordinate efforts to build capacity in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in southern Philippines, in Muslim Mindanao, especially on sectors such as the Halal industry, Islamic Banking, and Food Security," Marcos said after their bilateral meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya on Wednesday, July 26.

For his part, the Prime Minister committed to work with the Philippines to ensure that Halal industry can penetrate into the Middle Eastern market. This as the Chief Executive expressed that Malaysia's efforts have been an important part of "whatever success that we might enjoy today."
