The benchmark index is off 1.7% in August as the month winds down, but has gained 2.4% so far this week.. All three major indexes were making modest moves. The S&P 500 was up about 0.3%.The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was 4.105%, from 4.121% late yesterday, while the two-year yield was at 4.867%, from 4.888%.
