Want to go Swedish for your EV?

Volvo Cars Philippines has launched not one but two electric vehicles for the Philippine market. In a bid to snatch some sales away from the Germans and Lexus, the company has brought in the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge.

The Swedish automaker’s timing is spot on given that Mercedes-Benz also recently launched a pair of compact EV crossovers. The CX40 Recharge and C40’s main target? The EQA and EQB. Based on the XC40, the Recharge swaps the base vehicle’s turbopetrol engine with 75kWh batteries and two electric motors. Combined, those motors dole out 408hp and 660Nm of torque.

Exterior and interior-wise, it’s largely similar to the XC40. Exterior differences include a few trim changes with the blank plate serving as its grille. Inside, it’s identical to the gas-fed model save for a slightly deeper floor for the batteries.Moving on to the C40 Recharge, it sits on the same basic structure as the XC40. Unlike that model, however, the C40 does not have an equivalent gas-powered version.
