Business sentiment in Germany improved in October, snapping five consecutive months of declines, as firms in the manufacturing, services and construction sectors became more encouraged by future expectations.
The Ifo business-climate index rose to 86.9 in October from 85.8 in September, data from the Ifo Institute said Wednesday, better than expectations from economists polled by The Wall Street Journal for the index to edge up to 85.9. "Germany's economy can see a silver lining ahead," Clemens Fuest, president of the Ifo Institute, said.
