Just a few years ago, the Covid-19 pandemic changed the world. People stayed home to avoid getting sick, and many countries had lockdowns. With more time at home for work, school, and boredom, people bought a lot of electronics like smartphones, game consoles, and computers. Companies couldn’t even make enough to keep up. But as the pandemic got better and life returned to normal, electronics sales slowed down. The computer market especially saw a drop.
Similarly, in India PC market, including desktops, notebooks, and tablets, is forecast for a robust 14% year-on-year increase in 2024. All segments are expected to contribute to this growth, with tablets leading the charge at an impressive 24% year-on-year rise. Notably, despite the projected overall growth, Q4 2023 shipments saw desktops lead with a 27% increase, followed by notebooks at 3%. Interestingly, tablets in India experienced a 9% decline in shipments during the same period.
The rise of AI-powered PCs and locally manufactured devices are key trends driving this growth in India and China. Different companies will benefit from PC market growth in India and China. In India, Samsung is the biggest winner with 26%, followed by Lenovo and Apple . China is different, Lenovo is far ahead with 38%, while Huawei and HP tie for second place with 10% each.
