As the decision on whether to restrict salmon farming in Tasmania's Macquarie Harbour to save the endangered Maugean skate comes to a head, a delegation of salmon industry representatives have flown to Canberra to plead their case.

A delegation of salmon industry stakeholders will travel to Canberra to meet with politicians over the future of aquaculture in Macquarie Harbour.

With them was two-decade industry veteran Adam Saltmarsh, who said "a healthy harbour" was in everyone's interest. "We're all just banking on Ms Plibersek's decision to see how far we can go and if we can keep doing what we do."Photo shows A still images from a cartoon-style animation showing a cord and container sending bubbles into the water near two skates.

"The government is carefully considering the information and the scientific advice that it has obtained to ensure a proper, legally robust decision," the spokesperson said. "The primary threat to the species is degraded water quality, in particular, substantially reduced levels of dissolved oxygen throughout Macquarie Harbour," the advice said.
