Hickory Hollow Jerky, a snack company based in Eufaula, Alabama, recalled around 6,229 pounds of ready-to-eat jerky products.EUFAULA, Ala. - Over 6,000 pounds of jerky snack products were recalled on Friday, according to theHickory Hollow Jerky, a snack company based in Eufaula, Alabama, recalled around 6,229 pounds of ready-to-eat jerky products that were made without federal inspection, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced.
The items were shipped to stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and through internet sales. USDA officials said an ownership change caused some batches to be marked as inspected, even though they weren’t. Currently, there have been no confirmed reports of any adverse reactions due to jerky consumption. The USDA recommends that anyone concerned about a reaction contact a healthcare provider.
The FSIS said it is concerned some of the jerky products may be in consumers’ pantries. The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
