A remake of the British television series “Brief Encounters,” “A Virtuous Business” will tell the story of the independence, growth, and friendship of four women who delve into door-to-door sales of adult products in a rural village back in 1992, when it was still taboo to talk about sex.
When they get along, they function like a perfect team, but when they disagree, they constantly bicker and make snide remarks behind each other’s backs. Their leader Young Ja is the most influential and especially skilled at making underhanded comments. The targets of her gossip are the four saleswomen, who roam the village selling unusual products that make the more conservative housewives uncomfortable. Young Ja and her friends band together to protect the village’s morals.
