More than 40 U.S. veteran brass grave markers have been stolen from St. Patrick's Cemetery in Victor, N.Y. Friday, September 6, 2024. Victor, N.Y. – A Rochester company presented a check to the Victor American Legion on Monday, to replace all of the U.S. veteran brass grave markers stolen from St. Patrick’s cemetery in September.

Roger Awe presented a $3,000 check on behalf of the Rochester Optical Manufacturing Company to replace all of the veteran’s grave markers. The director of St. Patrick’s Cemetery is happy that the grave markers could be replaced in time for Veterans Day.“That’s how I noticed it, it was my father and my uncles, and then a few high school friends who were buried up there,” Butler said. “Their veteran markers were gone and that led me through the chase in the cemetery and up to 52 missing over time.

"We'd like to present the American Legion Post 931 with this check, in the amount of $3,000 which will cover the cost of the medallions,” Awe said during Monday’s ceremony.
