Josiane Laure Modjom started a networking platform to ensure marginalized people have their voices heard.

Diversity, inclusion, and intersectionality: three words that have begun to redefine the fashion industry in countless ways. This year, Gucci, Burberry, and Prada were called out for making racist missteps that could have easily been avoided if they had a diverse staff. Though the conversation on diversity is growing louder, it hasn’t yet transformed the industry at large.

Last week, Malia Indigo hosted a panel titled, Representation: A Conversation on Fashion and Intersectionality. Panellists included body positivity activist Aisha Fairclough, photographer Michele Taras, stylist Mic Carter, and president of Matte PR Heidi Ruggier, with Modjom serving as a moderator for the talk. The main takeaway from the panel was the importance of acknowledging one’s privilege and using that privilege to create space for those who have less.

True we need diversity in the fashion industry and its not just clothes but it's black designer's Broadway their own products and putting them on the broad market. We need to see our best talents showcasing their brands on high street fashion.
