The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is purchasing a high-end twin-engine business jet estimated to be worth $36,999,916 million, or around P2 billion, for the official trips of President Duterte and other military VIPs (very important persons).

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, an American aircraft company, announced in its website recently that the PAF has established a contract through the United States government to purchase a brand new G280 jet, as well as parts, tooling and contractor logistics support.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana approved the acquisition of the business jet in November last year, it was learned. Adolong defended the procurement of the high-end jet saying that it can also be used to ferry the government leaders in the event of a major crisis situation, thus, functioning as an “airborne command post.”

The Gulfstreat Aerospace Corporation said the G280 has a maximum range of 3,600 nautical miles or 6,667 kilometers at its long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.80 and a high speed cruise of Mach 0.84.
