Maimane won't be successful in forming new party before LGE: Analyst via SABCNewsOnline

Following his resignation from the DA this week, speculation is rife that Maimane might form a new party. Maimane left the DA, citing that the party is not suited to take forward his vision of building a ‘One South Africa for all’.

Croucamp says in the run-up to the local government elections and given the oppressive past of the country, Maimane will have a hard time convincing the majority of the electorate of his social-democratic values. “He tried to move the party to a social democratic party which I think is more likely to appeal to black voters and the black middle class. So with the elections I think the biggest problem that the DA has is to try to get black voters back? There’s no history in South Africa of being successful if you break away from one of the two bigger parties. Maybe he will do it but I can’t see him being successful with that, especially if he tries to be liberal.

Don't trust this guy

He must come and join ANC

Fair point but I believe MmusiMaimane need to strike while the iron is still hot. He has a lot of advantages on his side and stands a good chance of benefiting from mostly black voters who are dissatisfied by the ANC, EFF and now DA.

i knew it, oneday

What's the point of starting yet another new party ? UDM , Cope , EFF ,Agang The Good Party etc ...All offer what ? The same shit , different day

He must just join the ANC.

That is because you undermine the vision of this man of one SA for all and one day you will remember him because history will honor him.

He must not even think about it!!!

Why would he start a party anyway......his association with the DA doesn't make him popular amongst the black population His best shot is to join the ANC......being so vocal he might even end up being the president one day.

Problem with us Africans is we all want to lead without proper leadership skills.Reason we fnd it almost impossible to voluntarily step down

Africa's news leader.Former Democratic Alliance (DA) National Chairperson, Athol Trollip has confirmed that he will not only end his political career at national level, but also at local government level. Life goes on. Mooi loop. Has an executive job lined up for him. He is not a democratic, he was defeated by a better candidate and everything turn sawa. I haven't find where Zille broke any law for standing as fedex chairperson. If Magashule and Zwane can hold any position, then zille is a saint but I'm very sorry for white people like Athol
