The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission warned Monday that it is closely monitoring frenetic moves in the stock market, amid the stratospheric surge in values of meme stocks AMC Entertainment and GameStop Corp.
The regulatory statement comes as AMC Entertainment Holdings AMC, +14.32% is surging 20% on Monday, which is up over 2,600% in the year to date. Meanwhile, shares of GameStop Corp. GME, +9.55% are over 12% and have climbed almost 1,400%.
