Australia’s venture capital sector looks set to defy the rising caution in global markets, with AirTree Ventures closing the biggest fund yet in the country, banking $700 million to launch three vehicles, including the biggest seed fund in the country and a new fund to back so-called Web3 companies.tipped to be a bumper year for new local VC funds

AirTree Partners Jackie Vullinghs, John Henderson, Helen Norton, James Cameron, Craig Blair and Elicia McDonald have closed the biggest funding round so far in Aussie VC.AirTree co-founder and partner Craig Blair said its existing backers were unperturbed and had, on average, subscribed to contribute three times more than their previous investments, based on the performance of its earlier funds dating back to 2014.
