Family business suffers due to price hikes at the pump.

PUBLISHED 3:17 PM CDT Jun. 15, 2022DALLAS — Gerardo Hernandez Jr. and his crew wake up bright and early to beat the summer heat and fill up their trucks and lawn service equipment. , for about eight years.

Gerardo Hernandez Jr. oversees the three trucks filling up with gas for a day of lawn service in the Garland area. On this particular day of filling up on gas, Hernandez says they paid, “$133, $128, and $108, so we’re looking at about $350 every two days.” Robert Kelley, a senior partner at Headstorm, is also a supply chain expert in the DFW area. Kelley says the halted oil production during the early phases of the pandemic is coming back to bite us.

The Hernandez family isn’t taking any chances by solely relying on their long-standing lawn service business. They recently opened up an ice cream shop calledThe Hernandez family has opened up a Scoop N' Buns ice cream shop near downtown Garland to help build some profit elsewhere.
