The EU is among SA’s biggest citrus export markets, accounting for over 40% of orange shipments and 27% of soft citrus, according to SA’s National Agricultural Marketing Council. The study found that investment of almost R1.4bn in cold storage technology and capacity would be required to enable full compliance.
