Glasgow family business fears new council cycle lane could shut them down

He has now launched a petition urging his local community to oppose the cycle lane to protect local businesses.Lake told the Glasgow Times: “If they put a cycle lane on St Georges road it would mess up a lot of businesses. “The snooker hall has been here for 43 years and comes through everything including covid, I don’t know how we can take anything else on.“All the businesses on the surrounding streets feel the same.”

“The proposals will include a segregated cycleway along the eastern side of St George’s Road and improved public realm in general, which we believe will improve footfall in the area as active travel becomes a more attractive option.
