U.S. stocks finished higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average snapping a 5-day losing streak, as investors continued to monitor talks about a deal to raise the U.S. debt ceiling. The Dow rose by 47.98 points, or 0.1%, to 33,348.60:

U.S. stocks finished higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average snapping a five-day losing streak, as investors continued to monitor talks about a deal to raise the federal government’s debt ceiling. The S&P 500 SPX, +0.30% gained 12.

37 points, or 0.3%, to 4,136.47, according to preliminary closing data from FactSet. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.14% rose by 47.98 points, or 0.1%, to 33,348.60. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.66% advanced by 80.47 points, or 0.7%, to 12,365.21.
