The Chinese government is offering SA solar PV equipment and generators that can be used in public institutions to limit the effect of load shedding impacts, says Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa. | News24_Business

"The Chinese are the first to come back to us and say they will provide this kind of equipment like PVs…" Ramokgopa explained.Government knows the value of the assets to be provided and will be in a position to determine where this equipment must be installed – such as which schools, municipalities, provinces or hospitals.

Ramokgopa doubts that there will be a tax on the assets, as it is donations. This will be further discussed with SARS's customs unit."I really do not foresee it will be a problem. It is a grant someone is giving you." Ramokgopa said that internal processes are being followed to ensure South Africa may receive the assets. In times of uncertainty you need journalism you can trust.
