The culprit squeezed himself through a small gap at Bellshill takeaway before face-planting on to floor.

Police are hunting for a dopey thief caught on CCTV falling face-first through an extractor fan to the ground during a raid on a Scots takeaway.

A video of the incident captures the man breaking into For Fudge Shakes in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, on Sunday, October 8, at around 9.50am. He can be seen slowly squeezing himself through the small gap before losing his footing and hitting the floor face first. The dazed individual composes himself for a minute to recover from the impact before standing back up and pulling up his fallen down shorts and trousers, GlasgowLive reports. When staff arrived at around 11.30am they found multiple items had been stolen; including, a tip jar, money from the till, the charity donation box and some reserve cash.

"Once he finally wormed his way through the space we can see him work on the till and look for other things. It's devastating, we have good, hardworking group of young people and some of them were very shaken up at the start of their shift. "With the rising cost of everything right now and profit margins being squeezed, this is something we didn't need."A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 11.55am on Sunday, 8 October, to a report of a break-in at a premises on Motherwell Road, Bellshill. Those with information can contact Police via 101 or For Fudge Shakes here .
