The debate over how to protect individual privacy in an era in which technology makes it so easy to track so many facets of life still doesn't get as much attention as it should. For years, the Pew Research Center and other groups have found that most Americans are 'concerned and confused' about how much they are monitored and feel powerless to do anything about it. A March 11 story by the DNYUZ website shows why.

But privacy experts say any such alleged consent is meaningless because of the dense legalese used in vehicle contracts — language that is intended to keep buyers from knowing what they are agreeing to.
