Homes have now gone on the market at the site of the former Beeston Maltings, with a mixture of two and three-bed properties available. The green light for development on the historic site was given in 2021 and Platform Home Ownership has now made properties available for potential buyers to register their interest.
The site was once home to the Beeston Brewery Company's brewing facility, later converted to a maltings by Shipstones. Production of malt eventually stopped in December 2000 and plans were soon discussed for the area's future. Broxtowe Borough Council eventually gave permission for a development of 62 homes, scaled down from the originally planned 74. The scaling back came after residents raised concerns about the density of the development and access to the site.Developers at the time confirmed that the £13 million project would deliver a mixture of affordable rent and shared ownership properties, with all the homes now advertised on Platform being available on a shared ownership basis.
The development contains two types of properties, dubbed 'The Worcester' and 'The Loughborough', with the former having three bedrooms and the latter two. 'The Worcester' properties are available to buy from £136,000 on a shared ownership basis, whilst 'The Loughborough' properties are available from £108,000 on the same tenancy.
Platform's listing says: "These homes are in a great location, situated close to the Attenborough Nature Reserve, just a three-minute walk to the nearest train station and close to other amenities as well as a number of schools. With both city life and the countryside right on the doorstep, this development will be perfect for anyone looking for a slightly quieter location while still being able to enjoy the convenience of the city and transport links.
