A restaurant loses walking and car traffic because the flooded street cuts off the entryway from the city.

During this current stretch of rain, flooding is a concern in the Susquehanna Valley. It's a recurring problem at Juliette Avenue and Plum Street in Lancaster, and the high water can impact nearby businesses.'When this floods, it's our main entryway from the city, and it cuts it off,' said Prentice MacDougall, a bartender at American Bar & Grill. 'So, people can't walk. We lose all our walking traffic. We lose car traffic.

'The flooding forces would-be patrons to take a different route, which can make it a slow day at the restaurant. 'Obviously, you see all the cars going down here from this direction, they have to keep turning around so it makes it busy out here,' MacDougall said.Despite barriers blocking off the road, some cars still risk the drive – further impeding business at the restaurant.'Usually when they don't get the barriers up soon enough, a car will get stuck.
