Nottingham vape shop workers express concerns over the government's ban on disposable devices and new tax on vaping products, fearing that it will lead to a significant growth in the black market. Nottingham City Council's Trading Standards team has already seized a large number of illegal vapes, and workers estimate that a majority of customers are already asking for illegal products.

Nottingham vape shop workers fear recently announced government changes will result in the black market growing "100 fold". A ban on disposable devices was confirmed in January, with a new tax on vaping products being announced as part of the Budget last month.

"If people want people get, a lot of people turn to the black market to get a hit. want people to not smoke cigarettes to decrease the stress on the NHS but a lot of people will go back to cigarettes." Callum Winfield, who runs Daybrook Vapes, in Mansfield Road, said he had people asking for them "all the time", adding: "People want them, it's the convenience, the price and convenience of them is phenomenal.

"People will ring up and say they saw someone selling to underage or the vapes are too big. She said small offences resulted in warning letters, with more serious offenders being interviewed under caution.
