Elliott took part in a charity home run derby with Dak Prescott and other Cowboys teammates on Wednesday, the running back’s first return appearance in front of fans.
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott remain in the dugout during the annual home run derby for charity, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Riders Field in Frisco .. A small but spirited crowd at Riders Field cheered the familiar-face running back, who emerged from a baseball dugout donning a white jersey and black shorts.Back in the community. Back with teammates. Back competing, albeit in friendly fashion at the 11th-annual Reliant Home Run Derby for charity.
Quarterback Dak Prescott said he is “super excited” to call Elliott a teammate again. The two friends kept in close touch and even trained together at times in the space between Elliott’s March 2023 release and Tuesday’s one-year contract being signed.“He’s a real guy,” Prescott said. “He’s honest. What you see is what you get. He can have fun when it’s time. But when it’s time to be serious and lock in, there’s nobody better than him.
“Every young guy should follow the way that he goes about his business on the field. It’s going to be huge for this team.” Wednesday’s derby raised $104,900 for Salvation Army and $40,500 for other charities. Punter Bryan Anger won the 10-player event, a comfortable lead between him and tight end Jake Ferguson, the second-place finisher. Out of the mix to win, Prescott had Anger take swings in his place to raise extra funds during the final round. And yet, much of the attention fixated on Elliott. His decision to return to the Cowboys, signing a one-year contract worth up to $3 million, was simple.
