It requires a combination of continuous learning, adaptability and strategic thinking. My approach to overcoming challenges involves prioritising continuous education and skills development. My formal education is complemented by certifications like Certified Information Systems Auditor and ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity, which keep me updated with industry standards and best practices. Secondly, I leverage my experience across different roles and industries to stay adaptable and versatile.

Networking plays a vital role as well. I leverage my professional network to introduce mentees to industry experts, invite them to key events and encourage participation in cybersecurity forums and conferences. Building these connections not only fosters their professional growth but also opens doors to collaboration and career advancement opportunities. Motivation and encouragement are fundamental aspects of my mentoring approach.

I prioritise continuous learning by pursuing certifications like CISA and maintaining memberships in industry organisations that provide ongoing education and updates. Engaging with peers and experts at conferences, forums and online communities also allows me exchange insights and keep abreast of emerging trends. I make it a habit to read cybersecurity materials regularly to stay informed on new threats, technologies and best practices.

Networking and community-building initiatives are also vital. Establishing networks where women can connect, share experiences and support each other can help foster a sense of belonging and professional growth.
