Stocks ended flat to slightly lower on Wednesday, after swinging between gains and losses throughout the session, as investors contended with mixed signals around a potential U.S.-China trade deal. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.16% was down 0.2% to end around 2,880. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.01% gained around 4 points, or less than 0.1%, to end near 25,969. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.26% fell 0.3% to finish around 7,943.
