Mampintsha case postponed to June

The assault case against musician ‘Mampintsha’ who’s real name isThe Pinetown Magistrate’s Court heard on Wednesday that Maphumulo and singer Babes Wodumo – also known as Bongekile Simelane – have both agreed that the matter be handed to FAMSA for mediation.

The matter stems from a video posted on social media by Simelane in March showing a man slapping her, allegedly Maphumulo – her then partner.The video sent shockwaves around the country and sparked debate.Police have confirmed that these charges had been withdrawn. Maphumulo walked into the already packed courtroom dressed in shorts and sneakers followed by Simelane in a formal black dress and red hair.

Prosecutor Ndoda January requested that the matter be adjourned to the 11 June for finalisation, as the couple is currently attending counselling.Simelane and two others are facing a separate assault charge in the Durban Magistrate’s Court. This matter is expected to be heard again on the 31st May.
