Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube and Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane visited the Soshanguve East Secondary School in Pretoria to encourage matric learners on October 21, 2024.Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has given an assurance that her department will offer psycho-social support to learners on an ongoing basis and not just during exams.
Magnus says, “I know everyone wants their kids to have the best marks and the best opportunity but it’s okay if they don’t do as well this year and I know that sounds terrible but there are a lot of second chances out there.” Gade says, “Systems are going quite very well, so we don’t have a crisis as a province at this stage, but we have issued a statement to all our district directors to make sure that we get hourly reports from the centre, so that we can be able to make an immediate decision if there is any crisis that needs to be mitigated.”The Free State Education Department says it is focused on improving the quality of this year’s matric results.
This comes after the South African Weather Service forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Limpopo and other provinces including KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.
