Former African National Congress Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe says the process of registering party members for the party’s foundation course programme must be used as an opportunity to re-sign party members.“I don’t think, as Comrade Phoebe says, we have 600 000 members. I don’t think we know who these members are. I really don’t know if, we are sure. And so, this process must go hand in hand with the process of re-signing all these members anew. It’s been done. It can be done.

“I’m certain that today as we launch this foundational course which we are told that it’s compulsory for all members of the ANC starting here with the more senior members of the leadership and NEC. This important Education has a number of benefits it strengthens resolve, it deepens our understanding of the country we live in. Its own history and it gives us tools of analysis and it gives us confidence.
