The date for the funeral service of the murdered Chieftainess Nogcinile Mtirara of Mqhekezweni Great Place outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, is yet to be set.Mqhekezweni, the village where the late former president Nelson Mandela spent his childhood years, has become a living hell for elderly women and young girls.Even the late Chieftainess was not sure about her safety.
“It was the second time. They first came last year and they took eight phones from children who are schooling here at Jongintaba JSS and who were residing at this place. They never went to any house after that. They just went away,” he adds. Some have even abandoned their homes, fearing for their lives. On Tuesday night, two elderly women, including the Chieftainess, were brutally killed.
