The first part of the voting campaign traditionally involves a public vote to whittle markets down to a shortlist. Judges then choose a winner from the shortlist. In Shropshire, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishop's Castle, Bridgnorth, Church Stretton, Ellesmere, Ludlow, Much Wenlock, Newport, Wellington, Wem, and Whitchurch markets will all be hoping to claim the accolade.The market, that is run jointly by Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council, has transformed dramatically during the last 12 years.
