The Hawks are investigating substantial payments totalling R330 million made to the IT company owned by Rev Vukile Mehana, Sizwe Africa IT Group, while Naledi Mbude-Mehana was the head of the Eastern Cape Education Department. The payments were made months before they got married. Sizwe Africa IT Group was found to have unlawfully received these funds, which the State Information Technology Agency (Sita) deemed invalid, leading to a high court order to halt further payments.
