Five people, including a nine-year-old child, have died and more than 200 are injured as German authorities provide a grim update following the horrific Christmas market attack in Magdeburg.
Posts on his social media account, independently verified by Reuters, show al-Abdulmohsen held Islamophobic beliefs and supported far-right parties including the the Alternative for Germany. CCTV footage shows the vehicle tearing down the long, narrow laneways between stalls, before making a hard right turn at the end of the row - suggesting the driver had complete control of the car throughout the attack.
Far-right AfD leader Alice Weidel took to social media to ask:"When will this madness stop?" before calling for a special session of German parliament to address claims authorities had been"using the security apparatus to target the opposition and government critics", instead of"real threats".
