OGDEN - A simple response to a daughter's plea while in the hospital changed the life for Minky Couture founder Sandi Hendry. In fact, a burgeoning business was born out of a request for comfort, and it's something Hendry and Minky Couture have embraced ever since as they attempt to 'blanket the world'. The popularity of the blankets was undeniable. When I started Minky Couture, it was right when the internet was coming into full bloom and shopping on the internet, Hendry said.
After meeting people in store parking lots, exchanging blankets for cash, Hendry made the decision to try out her newfound business in an empty building she purchased that used to be a mortgage company - even as many told her a 'brick and mortar would never work'. I put 20 on a shelf, and they were gone in one day, Hendry said. I put 50 on the shelf and they were gone in two day
