Actress Rufa Mae Quinto Surrenders to Authorities in Investment Scam Case

Actress Rufa Mae Quinto surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) upon her arrival in Manila after a warrant for her arrest was issued. She is facing 14 counts of violating the Securities Regulation Code for allegedly soliciting investments in a local skincare product, Dermacare, without proper authorization.

MANILA, Philippines — Actress Rufa Mae Quinto turned herself over to the National Bureau of Investigation upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Wednesday after a warrant for her arrest was issued for the alleged unauthorized solicitation of investments involving a local skincare product.

A warrant of arrest was issued against Quinto for her alleged links to an investment scam involving a local skincare product. She has denied the allegation and has since posted bail before a Pasay City court.

An SEC advisory in September 2023 said that Dermacare was not authorized to solicit investments and warned that its endorsers may be sued.According to NBI-NAIA chief Jimmy de Leon, Quinto's lawyer Mary Louise Reyes reached out to them to arrange her voluntary surrender.She posted bail at a Pasay City court amounting to P1.7 million.Quinto denied 'any connection to any fraudulent activity.
