The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority has granted the Red Ants conditional permission to trade during its suspension.

JOHANNESBURG - The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority has granted the Red Ants conditional permission to trade during its suspension but the company may not carry out evictions or demolitions pending the finalisation of the appeal process.PSIRA suspended the relocation and eviction services company following a number of misconduct reports.

Linda Mbana from the PSIRA said the Red Ants initiated an appeal with the minister and also applied for conditional permission to trade. Mbana clarified the company is not permitted to conduct evictions due to the ongoing investigations into reported human rights abuses committed by the company representatives.

The appeal processes are expected to be concluded in approximately two months but the hearing stages will depend on an independent presiding officer according to Mbana.
