Dow opens with triple-digit loss as downbeat earnings weigh

U.S. stocks fell on Tuesday after a raft of weaker-than-expected corporate earnings dampened investor sentiment. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.29% fell 0.6% to around 3,003. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.21% shed 139 points, or 0.5%, to 27,083. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.36% retreated 0.7% to around 8,236. Investors are looking forward to the Federal Reserve's two-day meeting and U.S.-China trade negotiations, both of which start on Tuesday. U.S.

tumbled 14% on Tuesday after it reported a larger-than-expected loss. Apple Inc. appl will release its earnings after the market close.
