Free State Human Settlements and Department of Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs MEC, Saki Mokoena, will today visit a block of flats in Sasolburg at the scene of a deadly fire that claimed two lives at the weekend.
Three other people are receiving treatment in hospital. The fire broke out at Boiketlong flats in Zamdela.Mokoena, who will be accompanied by Metsimaholo Municipality mayor, Jack Malindi, will also engage the affected families. Free State Human Settlements and COGTA Spokesperson, Zimasa Mbewu, says the MEC is concerned about what transpired.
“The MEC has however also acknowledged the immediate response and assistance that was provided to those left displaced. He will during his visit be able to engage various stakeholders and come up with a solution on how they will be housing those left displaced. The MEC will also visit those in various hospitals and being treated for various injuries.
