Johannesburg Emergency Management Services has warned residents of an expected heatwave to hit Gauteng this weekend.
This is after the South African Weather Service confirmed that most parts of the province will have persistent high temperatures, exceeding 34 degrees Celsius. EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says the department will remain on high alert throughout the weekend to respond to all emergencies. “Extremely hot temperatures expected from Friday in most parts of the City of Johannesburg. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, drink lots of water, try and avoid direct sunlight, especially between eleven and three in the afternoon. Those who are working directly in the sunlight, take regular breaks and drink lots of water.
