The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) released a 2022 study revealing a decline of 7.3 percent in information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) companies in the country. Despite this, the sector experienced a 0.7 percent increase in employment, reaching 854,601 workers. The 2022 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI), conducted in April 2023, showed that the number of IT-BPM businesses dropped to 2,045 from 2,205 in 2021.
Customer relationship management (CRM) remained the dominant service, accounting for 52.5 percent of IT-BPM employment with 448,882 workers. This was followed by sales and marketing (18.7 percent) and other call center activities (6.9 percent). The IT-BPM industry generated P846.74 billion in revenue in 2022, a slight decrease from the P848.45 billion in 2021. Despite the revenue decline, the sector earned P327.63 billion from overseas transactions, representing 38.7 percent of total revenue and a 4.2 percent increase from 2021.
