If France has a hand in it its Just a Front

All chocolate factories like mars, Hersheys and Kraft should stop this monopoly

Good for them! It’s about time that part of the world stops letting dominant countries step all over them. Get your 💰💰💰💰💰💰

Higher prices are the result of Africans and not Mr. Trump's Tarrifs/taxes? Typical. Mr. Trumps makes a mess; but the Africans and Obama are to blame.

Cartels rarely last very long. Too much incentive for members to break their own rules.

LeratoMannya ... which they can use to set up manufacturing surely.

And the problem is.........

It's about fucking time. Some of these people are living on less than $200 per hear while corporations and cocoa dealers hoard funds. All of Africa should band together for their commodities.

It’s about damn time. These countries should’ve long done this.

SusanLUCKYWong About time.

Good for them!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Good.

For Chocolate Welp...

Good for them

These two largest producers finally wake up from comatose.

This gif is for you. Yes the poor African farmers are evil for demanding more for a sustainable livelihood

African producers should enjoy maximum profits of their products. Time for exploitation must end swiftly.

In the long run, production also increases in the 40% and prices fall. By then, the 40% may also gain more market share.

Chances are the small farmers who need the money the most will never see it, but maybe this will be the lone exception to history.

About time...

Good, wsj is complaining? Your headline is terrible, these people will better their lives...it's about time...

Hope it gets to the poor farmers.

This is way over due. Fact is the farmers currently get less than 10% of the profit in the chocolate industry. And stop calling them a cartel 😏

How dare those people want to improve lives for their people. Why, they might even be able to give up slavery and exploiting child laborers!

Can we frack for chocolate?

Solidarity

Boycott chocolate! Yeah, like that's going to work. Like my chocolate!

Good for them.

rolandsmartin GOOD!!!... it's about time Africa start to recognize their true worth and charge the right market prices for products. Hope this idea spread to the entire continent and it's leaders.

Makes the Fair Trade designation even more important.

If it improves the lives of those in that part of the World, it’s refreshingly Good News!

rolandsmartin Good for them.

Collusion and price fixing be damned among countries! God bless the United States of America 🇺🇸!

Bomb them lets just take it. Ghana girls send me messages all day their men must be weak n small

Or don’t buy them

Better late than never, premium price for a premium product

I'm thrilled that the farmers are banding together. As the producers of the source, the farmers must be able to make a substantial profit. I'm also hoping they will be educated in business operations. That will decide their sustainability. Entrepreneurship Leadership

Prepare to pay more......or prepare to buy less

Good for them

Unions matter...?

I don’t have an issue paying more for chocolate provided the people that need the money get it. Unfortunately I fear some corrupt officials will finish up with a lot of extra $$$$ and not the people that need it.

Oh no. You mean they will improve their lives?

Now that is collusion. LOL!

this made me smile 💗

The devil you say.

No harm in trying right. These farmers have been taken advantage of for a very very long time and its time for a change. If you want premium cocoa, pay a fair price. Ghana 🇬🇭 and Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 should start selling processed cocoa beans. This adds more value and increases returns

This was agreed about 4 months ago..

Great stuff

Good for them... 😊

I am now dibetic so no more Chocolate anyway.

That's some bossy move. We about to rule

Now THAT is collusion

Good for them. But dont let Bernie and AOC find out.

Good!

Great news!!!

Good move

That's great move

I say well done.

Congrats... Africa first

Raise cocoa prices? 1) I love chocolate 2) I am a capitalist 3) I want the workers to be treated fairly 4) So, raise the price.

USA attack

Yes it’s gonna happen

That’s what OPEC does with oil so 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

This we should all get behind.

Good

Increasing the Price usually means less Demand in an Economic model, but we are talking about CHOCOLATE! My wife will do almost anything for CHOCOLATE! Damn! Woman can be easy! A happy wife, a happy life!

This will now escalate rainforest destruction. We’re just doomed any way you look at it.

Lol.

After watching netflix's Rotten, I don't blame them for wanting to charge more. Good on them

Good for them.

More power to them. Their producers were not making an equal share of what cocoa makes on the world markets. Free market economics for the win.

Good for them and good for us.

Ivory Coast and Ghana grow cocoa, maybe they should add value and produce chocolate.

WSJ: Have Human Rights Gone Too Far?

Coming together or even forming a cartel as OPEC is good. It may raise the profits for the commodity producers. But the bulk of the money will still go to those who take the beans and use human skills and ingenuity to create a thing for which the world willingly pays a premium.

Good. It's a lazy indulgence.

That’s great. Other countries are benefiting from their sweat and products. They are supposed to get the lions portions.

Call it Organization of Cocoa Exporting Countries (OCEC)

he he I am a diabetic so can't have chocolate or not supposed to so I won't be paying extra

In Mexico we produce very good quality chocolate at good prices

Yup 👍🏾

Eh, guess I'm not eating chocolate much longer.

Careful have you seen what a woman on her period will do for chocolate?

Nice move,

14 Feb 👀

Then as Rupert Murdoch's and its opinion writers would advise in time, time for realDonaldTrump to send US military forces to those countries to stop ISIS.

Going Delerium now that Antwerp n Chocolat are off the menu

Good for them. Double, triple it. Maybe they’ll make a dent in the demand side. But doubt it.

To prevent child labor this should happen. People are unaware of who is actually doing the work.
