Australia exported nearly 1.3 million head of cattle last year, which was almost a record for the industry. What's expected in 2020?

According to data from the Federal Department of Agriculture, Indonesia was once again Australia's biggest customer, taking 675,874 head of cattle — up 15 per cent on 2018.

However as supply tightened around Australia, he said it was likely export numbers would fall in 2020. He said strong demand from the live-export trade in 2019 had kept cattle prices high for drought-affected producers in northern Australia.
