The production of Tesla's Model Y was previously said to begin in the summer of 2020, the company said in October 2019, which was already an advance of previous Tesla announcements that said production would begin toward the end of 2020. The Model Y is in production at Tesla's Fremont, California, facility. The company plans to expand the Model Y's production to Shanghai in 2021, and eventually in Berlin.
It was also announced that the Model Y's range would be increased from a previously estimated 280 miles on a single charge to 350 miles.
