The opening of Marlo Laz’s flagship store at 373 Bleecker Street was, in every way, a family affair. Designer Jesse Lazowski’s grandmother baked chocolate chip cookies, a sweet snack so delicious that they rivaled the popularity of the catered hors d’oeuvres. Her mother, all smiles at her daughter’s big debut, helped Lazowski with the store’s interior design, a playful space with rose-color walls, a glowing neon mirror, and velvet fringe curtains reminiscent of an extravagant era.
editors Allie Michler and Lilah Ramzi were in attendance, as were Carlotta Kohl, Cynthia Rowley, and Brianna Lance. Annabelle Moehlmann, founder of Land of Belle, strolled in to view her collection of homewares on display—Lazowski views her store as not only a showcase for her jewelry, but works for creators she admires. “It’s Marlo Laz...and friends!” she exclaimed.. It’s just the latest example of the revival of Bleecker Street, where a post-2008 recession bust left many storefronts empty.
