– Companies in Region 1 may now offer flexible work arrangements to cushion their employees and staff against the adverse impacts of the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak, according to DOLE Region 1 Director Nathaniel V. LacambraLacambra cited as guidelines in his offer were the contents of the Labor Advisory No. 09, series of 2020 issued on Wednesday by Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III regarding the implementation of various FWAs as alternative coping mechanisms and remedial measures.

FWAs refer to alternative arrangements or schedules other than the traditional or standard work hours, work days and work week. Employers and workers, however, are encouraged to explore other alternative work arrangements in order to cushion and mitigate the effect of the loss of income of the latter, the labor advisory said.

Employers are required to keep and maintain the documentary requirements proving that the FWA was adopted to facilitate the resolution of grievances.
