KUALA LUMPUR: The domestic equities market continued its recovery after a pause in the previous session as optimism that the coronavirus pandemic had peaked sustained buyers' interest in equities.

Investors were seen returning to consumer staples on anticipation over an improved demand outlook even though the coming corporate earnings season kept a cautious mood.

Trading volume was muted compared to the robust activity that took place in the previous week as investors speculated on small-cap oil and gas counter.A similarly positive performance was seen in key regional markets. Japan's Nikkei was up 2.8% while China's Shanghai Composite index gained 0.7% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.7%.On the Malaysian bourse, consumer giant Nestle was seen leading the sector higher, rising RM2 to RM137.40.
