Officials from the Bay Area county where Tesla reopened its factory say they're aware the company violated its lockdown rules and hope it will comply 'without further enforcement'

several times recently despite public health orders prohibiting it from doing so.

While only essential businesses are currently allowed to operate in California, Gov. Gavin Newsom let some retail and manufacturing businesses open last Friday and said Monday he expected Tesla to start up operations by next week. "My understanding is they have had some very constructive conversations," Newsom said in a video press conference. "My belief and hope and expectation is as early as next week, they will be able to resume."

However, Newsom also said local governments are allowed to maintain stricter rules if they choose to — which Alameda and several other counties in the Bay Area have done., which local officials responded to by saying they were engaging with the company in good faith to balance business needs with local safety.

This is the guy who ignores the SEC. But will completely respect municipal government...

Come on, make Elon do a perp walk!!!

They just have to wait till people get the virus in his factory and then bring lawsuits. He is an idiot. This after he said this virus will go away by April.

Think faster, smarter & use some research 'Officials'... it's gone way past your 'enforcement' on elonmusk. The consequences of your 'enforcement' will backlash on yourselves and the people you're meant to care for - that you cannot really defend. Get a bit of a grip.

Screw it, tell the Melon head he is moving. Nobody in California should be allowed to give a kid such a ridiculous name. By the time little Alphabet Soup gets to school he will be begging people to call him Sue.

How about installing safeguards like distance alert, test for workers every day , insurance coverage if someone contracts and die from COVID. Is it the hard part yes is the aright thing definitely yes. No need for empty gestures.

Meaning they know they have no top cover from the state and are scared about losing yet another employer
